An “Approve” vote on Question 1 will authorize the borrowing of $87.2 million for highway, bridge and transit improvements — making Rhode Island eligible for another $436 million in Federal matching funds over the next two years. Rhode Island has no other immediate source of funding for transportation initiatives. So it’s more crucial than ever to take advantage of all available Federal monies: which would simply go to other states. |
